David Schneiderman, a Senior Counselor based in Seattle, brings extensive and unique experience on both the business and editorial sides of media to his work with companies including Yahoo!, Adobe, Real Networks, Covanta Energy, Schnitzer Steel and the Financial Services Roundtable. He has counseled clients in media relations, crisis communications, antitrust matters, labor relations, bankruptcy and restructuring. Mr. Schneiderman has also authored opinion pieces and speeches for a number of clients on a wide range of subjects. Mr. Schneiderman was formerly CEO at Village Voice Media, which he transformed from a single newspaper into a national media company with $85 million in revenue, 500 employees, and publications in New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Nashville, and Orange County, California. Working with three private equity partners, he then merged Village Voice Media with New Times, creating a company with alternative newspapers in every region of the country. Mr. Schneiderman also has significant experience in online media. He developed the strategy for the combined company’s web sites, a network of city guides in 17 major markets. Previously, Mr. Schneiderman served as the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of the Village Voice, which under his leadership, won its first Pulitzer Prize. He was also founding Publisher of 7 Days magazine, which won a National Magazine award in its second year. Prior to that, he was at The New York Times, as Assistant Editor to Harrison Salisbury during the launch of the Op-Ed page, the first of its kind in the country. He subsequently became Deputy Editor of the page. Mr. Schneiderman has written on foreign policy for Le Monde Diplomatique and Harpers magazine and published book reviews in The New Republic and The New York Times Book Review. Mr. Schneiderman serves on the Board of Directors of the Seattle Public Library Foundation. He holds a B.A. degree in International Studies from The Johns Hopkins University and an M.A. degree from The Johns Hopkins School for Advanced International Studies with concentrations in International Economics, European Studies and American Foreign Policy. |
