Alan Maltun has been a communications professional and journalist for more than twenty-five years, providing counsel to a broad spectrum of Abernathy MacGregor Group clients in industries ranging from financial services and health care to manufacturing, transportation, and real estate development. A specialist in media relations and crisis communications with extensive experience in media training and strategic message development, he is also frequently called up upon to assist with crafting opinion articles, speeches, and media materials. Mr. Maltun has counseled such firms as the Ameriquest Mortgage Company on coping with complex legal and regulatory crises and has assisted companies such as the Jacobs Engineering Group in handling sensitive management succession issues. He has also dealt extensively with health care policy issues as a director of state media relations activities for the western division of the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), as well as in his work for Health Net and Kaiser Permanente. Other clients, Mr. Maltun has worked with include Avery Dennison Corporation, City National Bank, Corinthian Colleges Inc., First American Corporation and Health Net. Before joining AMG, Mr. Maltun served as a consultant to Edison International, Great Western Bank, the Metropolitan Water District, and the Los Angeles County Transportation Commission. A former vice president of media relations with an international public relations company, he spent more than a decade as a news reporter for the Los Angeles Times and Newsweek, among other publications. Mr. Maltun, who holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oregon’s School of Journalism and Communications, has lectured on public relations at UCLA, USC, and numerous other colleges and universities. |
