Shawn H. Pattison provides strategic communications counsel to senior management in the areas of corporate and financial public relations, investor relations, and crisis communications.  His clients include hedge funds, private equity firms, asset management firms, and commercial and investment banks, as well as not-for-profit organizations.

Mr. Pattison brings to Abernathy MacGregor a unique perspective on the alternative asset management industry, having served throughout the 1990s as one of the first internal public relations specialists at a hedge fund group, Soros Fund Management LLC. At Soros, he served as press secretary and spokesman for its chairman, Mr. George Soros, and directed the communications activities for the then $22 billion fund group and its chief investment strategist, Mr. Stanley Druckenmiller.

Following Soros and prior to his joining Abernathy MacGregor, Mr. Pattison managed the communications activities of The Robin Hood Foundation, one of New York City’s leading poverty fighting organizations.  At Robin Hood, he developed and implemented a crisis communications program to counter the aggressive media and public scrutiny into the Foundation’s Relief Fund, established just days after the attacks of September 11th .

Mr. Pattison was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, in International Relations from the University of Southern California, and holds, with honors, a Masters of Science in Foreign Service degree with a concentration in Public Diplomacy, from Georgetown University.
